There are a few gotchas to getting this working, but the tl;dr version is this: Mac Run Genymotion and start an emulator; Mac Locate the adb command (part of the Xamarin / Android tools installation) and restart the adb service. Install a latest Genymotion (version 2.8.1). Make sure the previous old (preview) Android 6.0 images are removed (Genymotion - Settings - Misc - Clear cache). Add a new virtual device, select Google Nexus 5X and Android 6.0 image. It should download a new image from Genymotion website.

Easy to setup emulator for the Android operating system

To install the Genymotion app on your Mac, all you have to do is drag and drop the apps included in the archive to your Applications directory. Note that the Genymotion emulations run on VirtualBox, which needs to be installed on your computer beforehand.

Genymotion provides support for different versions of the Android operating system, ranging from 2.3 to 5.0, and can simulate the characteristics of a certain device model. To actually create a new virtual device, you must login to your Genymotion account beforehand.

This means that some of the Android features such as Google Map, require Google play service cannot be tested on the Genymotion emulator.

However, it allows you to install the required Google Play Services by yourself. This post explains the instructions for installing Google Play Services in the Genymotion emulator.

It is assumed you already have the Genymotion emulator installed and have download one or more of the supported device images.
Start the Genymotion Virtual device you have configured. In this post, I have configured Google Nexus6 Android version 5.0.

Genymotion Mac Install Windows 10

Download the appropriate version of Google Play Services .zip file from www.teamandroid.com/gapps/. Make sure to download the Google Play Services version same as your virtual device Android version.
Drag the .zip file onto the running virtual device and drop it to install the component, here we show it on Mac OS X, but the same mechanism is used in Windows. Notice that, a dialog will appear and show as file transfer in progress, then another dialog will appear and ask that do you want to flash it on the emulator.

Click OK and reboot the virtual device.
Reboot the virtual device and notice that Google Apps will be in the emulator. Now you can run applications that depend on Google Play Service API.

Note: Google Apps Services may crash frequently and stopped working. This means you may need to upgrade al required Google Apos from Play Store.
